Packaging is an integral part of both the online and in-store consumer experience. It can be both functional, delivering information and sustainable value to buyers, as well as inspirational, providing unique experiences that increase a product’s value. We’re looking for solutions that:

Challenge 1:

  • Connect consumers to brands through new experiences
  • Make receiving packages a moment of excitement for end users
  • Provide interesting ways of creating wonderful and unique experiences through physical and digital capabilities

Challenge 2:

Less is More for Consumers and Brands

We want startups to help us optimize demand planning that reduces waste, facilitates limited product runs for small brands, and increases localization and personalization.

Sustainable, Responsible
and Efficient Value Chains (SRE)

As a leader in materials science, Avery Dennison continuously invests in new materials innovation, always seeking ways to increase value and functionality via both digital and physical means.

Challenge 3:

Sustainable Label and Graphics Materials

Help us develop alternative materials and technologies that improve our environmental impact across our product portfolio.

Solution Examples: Challenge 3

We are seeking startups that can:

  • Develop printed electronics for our inlays
  • Replace fossil-fuel based products with responsible alternatives in films, liners and adhesives, especially in the food sector
  • Improve the recyclability of our labels, graphic materials and RFID inlays through the use of new materials
  • Alternatives to silicones
  • Labelless solutions or non-traditional label solutions

Challenge 4:

New Functionalities for Self-adhesive Materials

We are interested in new pressure-sensitive material functionalities that expand our products’ addressable use cases. Such as:

  • Components that improve hygiene, like antimicrobial, odor reduction and gas capture films
  • Functional architecture and retail films that increase energy efficiency, lower resource consumption, and improve air quality and sound dampening
  • Temperature regulating films and foils
  • Next-generation window films that better regulate heat
  • Dynamic color-changing films for automotive and architectural applications, and flexible, retrofit e-signage films for indoor and outdoor applications
